Chinese Copycat iPad Mini Clone To Sell For $99

In just a matter of days after Apple introduced the iPad Mini, a company in China has announced plans to sell a tablet called the ‘Goopad mini’ , which is remarkably similar to the iPad Mini, for just $99.

The Chinese tech website Gizmochina reported this new tablet comes from a Chinese company called Goophone, which also launched the “Goophone i5″.  You guess it, the Goophone 5 was produced shortly after the launch of the iPhone 5 last month.  Goophone in a preemptive move patented the iPhone 5’s design in China, based on early leaks of the device, in an attempt to stave of legal action from Apple.

While you may dismiss the copycat as an unworthy cousin, the specs the company provided is nothing to laugh at.  The tablet comes with these following hardware specifications: 8-inch 1024 x 768 resolution display, a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and dual-facing cameras. The Goopad mini seems to run a customized version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The tablet will be available in November for $99, a $230 saving from an entry-level iPad Mini.  So if you are short of cash and you are willing to risk some quality, the Goopad mini may be for you.
