Samsung is not shy poking fun at obsessed, iPhone Apple fans, and true to their history, the Korean electronics giant has released a new commercial pointing out a handful of the iPhone 5’s omissions and flaws.
The commercial pokes at Apple fan’s gullibility to Apple’s marketing, the new location of the headphone jack, the new Lightning dock connector, the lack of NFC, and the overall superiority (and coolness of owning a non iPhone) of Samsung’s Galaxy S III. But the most unflattering part is when they suggest that the phone you are lusting over is a phone that your parents will want to buy as well. Ouch!
Samsung’s message is clear. The Galaxy S III, its flagship mobile product, is a much better and more advanced product than the iPhone 5. Though the accuracy of the ad may be debatable, Samsung (its ad agency) has positioned itself as the number one alternative to anyone who may not want to be part of the iPhone bandwagon. The commercial is clever, humorous and well produced but will it impact sales of the iPhone 5? I highly doubt it as buyers line up just like in the Samsung commercial for their purchase of the iPhone 5. According to Apple, orders for the iPhone 5 topped 2 million in the first 24 hours, more than double the iPhone 4 over the same period.
