Why Doesn’t Huffington Post Have Asian Voices And Do We Asian Americans Even Care? 31

This week, mobile analytics firm Flurry released some new data on iOS and Android device adoption around the globe.
According to their data, China is the fastest growing market for iOS and Android devices with 128 million net active smart devices, behind the United States at 165 million. After China, the numbers drop off sharply with the UK in third with 31 million active devices, South Korea at 28 and Japan at 22 million devices.
China being second is not too surprising since China does have the largest population and its urban citizenry is very wired. Yet, it is still amazing (or maybe not) the amount of growth the smartphone market is having in China.
Flurry’s data now pegs China as the fastest growing market for iOS and Android devices as its market grew over 400% year-over-year. Russia and Brazil were the other high growth markets, at 189% and 220% respectively between July 2011 and July 2012.
Chile, believe it or not, came in at second at 279% year-over-year growth. Chile has become a startup and mobile hotspot thanks to government investments in these areas.
