Why Doesn’t Huffington Post Have Asian Voices And Do We Asian Americans Even Care? 31
Fresh off the photo-sharing-obsession phenomenon is Pictorious, a New York-based startup that combines elements of Instagram and Draw Something to create a new photo-focused social game.
Founded by Michael Park and Albert Chung in August 2011, Pictorious is “a fun, new game that inspires you to take awesome photos and challenge your friends to do the same,” according to the website. It’s a game that’s “all about making everyday life more fun and interesting.” Plus it’s free.
Users can take part in Pictorious on the website or by downloading the app for iPhone. Every day Pictorious offers challenges—some easy and some more difficult. Challenges currently on the website include “The Last Supper,” which asks users to share what meal would be the last if it were their final night on earth, and “I Love NYC,” which asks people to share photos of what they love about New York City. Other users can vote and comment on the photos they like best.
Players can also submit their own challenges for their friends. They’ll level up and receive rewards for more user likes in the game. They can also earn points by inviting their friends or tagging friends in photos.
And while bragging rights for winning a challenge is a reward in its own right, Pictorious is also partnering with brands to offer prizes. “Partners are brands we respect, who make great products and great experiences, as well as the do-gooder organizations that make the world a better place to live,” the website reads.
