MacWorld Asia 2012 Is Off & Running Now Till August 5

While new iPhone 5 rumors continue to circulate the interwebs before its rumored reveal next month, Asian territories have their own thing going on with IDG’s MacWorld Asia 2012 kicking off today at Beijing. This is the second annual show that shows off the latest wares by numerous companies for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. With the theme being “Connecting Experiences, Influencing Future,” it is going to be interesting what these companies have that actually corresponds to that.

Among the 500 companies present at the show are Logitech, Macally, Cmune, i-Free, and LaCie. Besides the exhibition floor full of booths, keynote speeches are also there and even a beauty pageant, the “MacWorld Girl” competition, which it is not that surprising since booth babes always play a big part in trade shows like these. Some booths are showing off and selling new bluetooth, wireless, and cloud-related accessories for the Apple devices The rest of the booths, however, will be selling numerous cases and accessories there, but you never know if something cool and unique comes out of the show floor. One neat touch about this weekend’s expo is that there is a family day with products designed purposely for children to use and play with along with having lessons learning to do certain tasks on iPads and getting free gifts.

MacWorld used to be the one spot here at the states for Apple to reveal what is next for them than just a trade show devoted only to their devices, such as the original iPhone back in 2007. They stopped doing them in 2009 because they prefer spreading out their reveals in seasonal press conferences such as the upcoming one next month when the iPhone 5 is supposed to be officially announced. Apple also continues to grow at Asian territories on a rapid pace as Android’s lead over the mobile market is shrinking. MacWorld Asia 2013 is already slated to take place on August 22-25 next year if you’re interested in checking it out.
