Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing Gives $3 Million Of His Bonus To Employees

Chinese global computer firm Lenovo had a record setting year and for this it rewarded its CEO, Yang Yuanqing, a $3 million bonus.  So what does Yang do with his multi-million dollar bonus?  He decided to reward thousands of the company's rank-and-file employees.

A total of 10,000 employees worldwide will receive bonus checks for their hard work, according to Lenovo spokesman Jeffrey Shafer.

According to Lenovo's press release, the company's net profit rose 73 percent year over year. The brand's global PC sales rose by 35 percent year over year.  Lenovo ended the year as the number 2 PC maker behind HP.  However, Lenovo is on pace to beat HP for the top sport in a matter of weeks.

Every employee, from manufacturing, sales, to management, will each receive $300 as a part of Yang Yuanqing's generosity.

Yang, The 47 year CEO, owns about 8 percent of the company.  So even though $3 million dollars is a lot of money to give away, he still has plenty left.

This act of genorsity is rare in China, as the idea of giving and philanthropy is not quite ingrained in China.  China is still very much a get rich at all cost culture.

What do you think of Yang's generosity?  Do you think he will start a new trend of giving in China?
