Why Doesn’t Huffington Post Have Asian Voices And Do We Asian Americans Even Care? 31

Good news if you’re visiting or living in Indonesia—ordering food from many of your favorite restaurants is now just a click away.
Similar to its American counterpart, Seamless, Indonesian startup Klik-Eat allows its users to order food from 130 popular restaurants in the country. Among these restaurants are Rice Bowl, Ootoya and Beautika.
After logging onto the website, users can peruse menus, prices and photos. After that, they can order in multiple ways—online at the website, by phone, or even through Blackberry PIN, Yahoo mail, MSN messenger or Gtalk. All they have to do is choose a location, find a desired restaurant, select a meal, check out and enjoy. The food is delivered, typically within 45 to 60 minutes of the order being placed, and users can pay by bank transfer or cash, according to CNET. Klik-Eat also hopes to roll out the ability to pay by credit card, as well as a food ordering app for iOS and Android.
Klik-Eat was founded by Michael Saputra, also CEO, Andrew Pangestan, also CFO and Willy Haryanto, also CTO. After encountering difficulty trying to order food while having a meeting in apartment, the three decided to found Klik-Eat to simplify food ordering and delivery for a more diverse selection of foods. In addition to the narrow selection of fast food restaurants like KFC and pizza joints that offered delivery, the founders also noted that Jakarta’s high traffic density often made going out for food more difficult. They decided to create Klik-Eat to make ordering food more efficient. Cancellations are not allowed.
At the moment, the team is seeking funding, according to SG Entrepreneurs. They’re looking forward to “becoming a market leader for online food ordering globally, securing 50 percent of Jakartan restaurants as partners.” They also hope to compete on the same level as McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut—at least in the food delivery industry. Klik-Eat is competing directly with Food Panda, and it was a top ten finalist at Echelon 2012, a startup conference in Asia.
