PostRocket’s Software For Facebook News Feed Optimization, Helps Brands Get Their Posts Out To Their Followers

News feed optimization (NFO), is the new SEO for social media marketing.  Not many people know this but Facebook’s EdgeRank, its algorithm for news feeds, only enables users to see a certain proportion of posts from friends and pages that they are following. That means companies are trying to get their posts from their Facebook Pages to their followers. PostRocket is one of several companies that are helping companies achieve this.

As Facebook marketing is becoming as important as having ads in Google or optimizing Google searches, businesses see a great need in getting the most of of their Facebook campaigns.  Investors see this as well, that’s why PostRocket last week raised $610,000 to help businesses blow up on Facebook. The seed money came from Polaris Ventures, 500 Startups, and several angels. According to TechCrunch, the money will be used to build out a team, content recommendation tech, marketing, and eventually get its product out of private beta.

So how does PostRocket, the 500 Startups Fall 2011/Winter 2012 company, work?  PostRocket analyzes your Facebook Page, with similar characteristics and provides recommendations for when and what to post.  The goal is to provide these recommendations without the brand having to do any deep analysis of their own. The recommendations cover timing of a post, type of post (video, text, photo), frequency of posts and content of a post.

Twenty one year old co-founder and CEO of PostRocket, is Tim Chae.  There are five members in the team and the average age is just 21.  In the TechCrunch article, they all dropped out of college to pursue their vision of PostRocket by driving across country to join 500 Startups.  Chae and his team strongly believe in news feed optimization as a new game changer in social media marketing.  “NFO is the new SEO,” says Chae. “It’s still in such an early stage of recognition.”

Tim Chae currently holds the unofficial title as the youngest-ever entrepreneur backed by 500 Startups when he joined the accelerator at age 20.
