“Giant” Tetris Played on 29-Story Building

A game of tetris played by hundreds of enthusiasts set a possible world record by playing on a 29-story Cira Centre high-rise building in downtown Philadelphia Saturday.

A tetris like colorful displays appear on the 437-foot building during night thanks to hundreds of LED lights installed on its facade and this weekend the Cira Centre's north and south sides were turned into a 100,000-square-foot screen, with players controlled it with, of course, joysticks.

This building was also the same one where a record-breaking game of Pong were played last year.

Alibaba Buys Minority Stake In A Chinese Retail Group

Over the years, traditional retailers have been moving into online sales. Now, one of the world’s biggest e-commerce companies is doing the opposite - moving into department stars.

On Monday, Alibaba, China’s biggest e-commerce company, announced that it would invest 5.37 billion Hong Kong dollars, or $692 million, for a stake of at least 25 percent in Intime Retail Group.

The deal is roughly equivalent to Amazon’s buying a stake in Macy’s, Intime operates 36 department stores and shopping centers across China.

U.S. Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Baidu

A United States court has dismissed a lawsuit by pro-democracy activists against Baidu, the operator of China’s most popular Internet search engine, who complained that the company illegally suppressed political speech.

The lawsuit was brought by eight New York writers and video producers who accused Baidu of creating search engine algorithms, at the behest of the Chinese government, to block users in the United States from viewing articles, videos and other information advocating greater freedom in China.

Newly released Edward Snowden documents have revealed NSA operations against Huawei,  the giant Chinese tech company.

Snowden’s documents has shown that since at least 2007, the NSA has been conducting a sophisticated operation against Huawei, hacking into its servers, stealing its source code, and monitoring its employees' emails.

Google is finally getting into the smartwatch world.

The search giant on Tuesday introduced Android Wear, a version of Google’s Android operating system software that is designed for wearable computers, mainly the smartwatch.

Google, which entered the smartphone and tablet markets after Apple, now is position to be first in developing relationships with the many software partners.

That means consumers should expect to see Android-powered smartwatches before Apple does. Apple has been known to be developing a watch for some time, but no smartwatch has yet to be released.
