Samsung Electronics introduced two new smartwatches, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, and dropped the Galaxy branding from its first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear. Today’s announcement also revealed that Samsung will use its own OS, the Tizen, an operating system that Samsung developed with several partners, instead of Google’s Android.
Samsung also said the new smartwatches will have a battery life of two to three days, an improvement over the Galaxy Gear, which got one day of battery life.

Herbalife Ltd, the nutrition products company, raised its forecast for the first quarter of 2014 on strong sales growth in China.
The forecast was raised as the company's China sales rose more than 120 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013. The firm adjusted profit of $1.25 to $1.29 per share in the first quarter this year. Prior, it forecasted $1.24 to $1.28 per share.

Two analysts said that Apple and Samsung made all of the industry’s profits last quarter.
Tavis McCourt, an analyst for Raymond James, estimates that Apple took 87.4 percent of mobile phone earnings in the fourth quarter, while Samsung took in 32.2 percent. (The numbers add up to more than 100 percent because Apple and Samsung combined made more money than other companies lost.)

Twitter reported its slowest pace of user growth in recent company history, unnerving investors, wiping out nearly a fifth of the company's value in after-hours trading.
The San Francisco company said there were 241 million monthly users in the December quarter, up just 3.8 percent from the previous three months - the lowest rate of quarter-on-quarter growth since Twitter began disclosing user figures.
